Double Pleated Card

This is my first blog posting and I have decided to include a card I have done recently in one of my classes.  This card is called a double pleated card and I combined this with a card base that will hold a gift card so the dimensions will be 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 which you will need to make your own envelope since this is a special size.  I had to customize the pleats so that it would fit on the special card base.

I started with our Designer series paper which is called Pop of Pink and the card base is Melon Mambo.  I cut the paper and folded to make the card front.

You should end up with a paper with all 4 cuts, I am using the other side of the paper for my card (the pencil marks were not showing so I used the back side to mark).  Then you fold inward on both sides so they meet in the middle and continue to fold.  You might need to make a small adjustment for the middle fold so the two meet.  Use your bone folder to crease each fold.

Now to make the card.  Using Melon Mambo cut a 8 ½ by 11 sheet of paper to 4 ½ by 11.  Score at 4 ½,  5 ½ and 6 ½ to make the gift card fold.

I used the decorative label to make two punches one from each side to make the opening for the card. Make sure you line up with card from both sides and just punch a small piece, aligning the card so it is flush with the edge of the punch.  If you do not have a punch you can always cut a line across leaving space on each side so that the card fits.

I used tape runner on each of the folds to help hold down the paper and then used my tear and tape on the back across the paper to adhere this to the card.  I also added tear and tape to the band to help hold down the folds.

Taking the extra piece of DSP paper that you cut off at the end to make your 4 x 10 strip and you will use this to make a band that goes across your folded paper.  Since your folded paper does not fit the entire card front which is 4 ½ I used this as a band to cover and used the other side of your DSP with the dots adding visual interest to your card.

Using some rhinestones I put them on the top three folds and then used the Thoughtful Banners Stamp Set and punch using the Melon Mambo ink.  I adhered the sentiment with dimensionals.  For the inside I cut a piece of whisper white to 4 1/8 by 4 1/8 and stamped the word celebrate and added a couple of small hearts from the Bloomin Love stamp set.  I made the envelope using the Envelope Punch Board and stamped a few hearts to match the card.
